ArtBoxes teach across the curriculum in six areas. The ArtBoxes are a fun way to teach art and a core subject at the same time. ArtBoxes have curriculum ideas which include binders with art ideas and related items such as costumes, videos, examples of projects, etc. All art supplies are included and there is no cost to teachers in the state of Nevada!
While these are available for anyone, they are designed for teachers. The ArtBoxes have been presented to Washoe County School District teachers and to the homeschoolers in Washoe County with great success.
ArtBox choices are:
Math - “String: a Line Connecting Art to Math and Language Arts”
Science - “Geologic Poetry Beyond the Solar System”
History - “The Drama of it All”
Social Studies - “Across the Burning Sand”
Language Arts - “Story Sequencing through Cartooning”
Creative Movement - “Move it! Creative Dance”
Reserving an ArtBox:
To reserve an ArtBox you must call fill out the Art Box Teacher Reservation form and FAX it to: Jill Berryman, NAAE, c/o Sierra Arts (775) 329-1328 or email to jill@sierra-arts.org and to get on the ArtBox calendar. The ArtBoxes check out for 6 weeks. There is an additional two weeks in between checkouts so they can be refilled with consumable art supplies.
Only one ArtBox can be checked out to a person at a time. A week before the person on the calendar is due to have the ArtBox for which he/she signed up, a person from NAAE will make contact to discuss shipping and/or delivery and pick up of the box.
Scheduling:
ArtBoxes are reserved up to one and a half years in advance. The ArtBox calendar is prepared by NAAE. All the ArtBoxes are on the same schedule so they can be refilled with a minimum of time by the staff.
Inventory:
When each ArtBox is returned the contents will be checked against the supply list by trained staff. The consumables that need to be refilled or replaced will be noted. If a non-consumable is missing or needs replacing the last person who check out the ArtBox will be called immediately so they can take care of the replacement charges.
